“All that I know about us is that beautiful things never last, that's why fireflies flash.”
― Ron Pope.
That january, i saw a lot of fireflies on my way home. Yellow, bright, twinkling fireflies flew over the tall grass. It made me just instantly happy. When i came to my backyard i saw even more number of fireflies. I wonder if this was the sign of rainy season about to come, so i looked up on the internet and found nothing, only mystical story about fireflies, it said that fireflies existence was the sign of dead people's soul.
Fireflies love humid, warm environments. Nobody is sure why this is. Fireflies also love long grass. They're nocturnal, and during the day they spend most of their time on the ground. At night, they crawl to the tops of blades of grass and fly into tree branches to signal for mates. (source: http://www.firefly.org/firefly-habitat.html)
More things i got from the internet was the female firefly showed that it was looking for a match through her light, and if the male catch the sign, it also showed his signal through the light. The fireflies were in love on that warm rainy season.
Like the twinkling light of fireflies, There was a story that only lasts for a moment, found on January and lost in April. Sparkling beautifully in the dark nights, but just like a dream that when you wake up everything's gone.
